You might start on these sites:

http://www.rangeraudio.com/electron.htm

http://www.ibiblio.org/obp/electricCircuits/

Also

http://www.electronicsforu.com/electronicsforu/lab/

http://commlinx.com.au/schematics.htm

for some projects and schematics to learn how things work

have a look at
Beginners and Intermediate Electronics

I'd reccomend the book "Getting Started in Electronics" by Forest M. Mims
III. It was origionally published by Radio Shack, but I think they've
discontinued it. You may be able to find a copy online somewhere or at
your local library.

A couple of good sites are www.epanorama.net, and discovercircuits.com.
Both are packed with tons of information.

Starting here in newgroups is a good place as well.

Regards,
Chris

Good suggestions. If you have a specific question, post it here, or
go to http://pub99.ezboard.com/bdefcon9
Your public library should also have some material.
