What's with IRF spice models?

Hi:

I tried to get the .spi file for IRF540, but it points to irf830.spi

If you go to IRF830, the spice file link is for irf9520.spi

IRF9520 points to irf9530.spi, and finally IRF9530 points to irf9530.spi.

I could understand it if different part numbers linked to spice files
with different names, if the models were effectively the same, but
IRF9520 is PMOS, while IRF830 is NMOS.

What are these folks smoking?

post the link. if the url has the part number in it you should be able
to substitute the right part number in the url.

Hello Chris,
I searched yesterday also for IRF models and I had a hard time to find it.
http://www.irf.com/product-info/models/ -> SPICE Library
Here are all the IRF models in one zip-file.

Most(all?) of the models are SPICE subcircuits using an extreme diode model.
I suggest it's used for leakage current simulation, but I believe they
simply tried to disable these effects later by using extreme values in this
diode model.

..MODEL MD1 D IS=1e-32 N=50 CJO=1.45048e-09 VJ=0.930013 M=0.9 FC=1e-08

Take a look to Is and N and compare it to "normal" diode models.

You need the latest LTSPICE 2.05z to use these IRF models, because of this
diode model.

yup. you just rclk | copy shortcut, ctrl-v it in the address box, fix
the part number and go.

You're just missing the point.

Which is, it is wise not to assume that others are running the same web
browser, or word Processor, or other program as you are.

Yes, I get a context menu when I rclk a link, but it has different
entries. Of course, there is an entry with the same purpose as "copy
shortcut". But I was just making a point.

Microsoft software is NOT the standard.
