Hi all,

Can you tell me what's mean by anti-amplifier for a speaker ???
One of the hi-fi shop's sales tried to tell me that speaker is very
good. And told me it is : inbuilt anti-amplifier.

I don't understand what's inbuilt anti-amplifier. Can anyone explain
it to me ??

Thanks in advance ...

Damn, a new fandangled term used by the hifi tossers perhaps? Well i thought
an anti amplifer was an amp made by a crowd called anti? What type of
speaker? Was it a sub with a built in amp? Or was the sales guy full of shit
and perhaps mistakenly reffering to damping or the likes?

**Assuming you are correctly describing what you have been told, you are
being handed complete bullshit.

Shop elsewhere.

** Did he also tell you the magnets used pure Unobtainium, the voice coils
were helically wound from superconducting wire and the cabinets weighed next
to nothing because anti-matter was used in the particle board ??

** Did he also tell you the magnets used pure Unobtainium,
**No such material

the voice coils
were helically wound
**All voice coils are helically wound. AFAIK, only Bose claim this feature
in their products.

from superconducting wire

**Refrigeration could be an issue.

and the cabinets weighed next

**The resulting explosion (matter - anti-matter anihilation) from a cabinet
weighing (say) 10kg would destroy this planet. An anti-matter cabinet is
unlikely. Mostly on reasons of cost.

in a technical context of people trying to sound impressive, a
resistor.

In that context, snake oil. no wait, snake oil actually tends to
exist.... i think the term is technobabble... no wait thats the term
used when you are just making somehting too complex. Ah yes :
bullshit.

Did the showroom have a strange aroma, somewhat similar ti that of male cow
excrement ?

Steve

I kid you not people, buy I have seen am audio brand called Anti, which
happened to be one of those freak hifi jobs. That is why I asked him if it
was an amplified sub.

MY guess is that it was sales bullshit though.

its very simple

a anti-virus program seeks and destroys virus,
a anti-amplifier speaker will kill off your amplifier.

am I full of shit or what?

isn't this about feeding normal right channel and inverted left
channel into a subwoofer?

Thanks in advance ...

The salesperson may have been describing an actual product, but his/her
choice of terms is unique to their experience, and do not exist in the world
of audio or electronics.

They were probably misunderstanding what they were told by their co-workers
or the manufacturer's rep and translated this into misinformation by speaking
of things they do not fully understand.

I'd not spend my $$ or Ł at a place that speaks in their own dialect without
the use of a translater :).

Good luck,
