What's with the "new" namby-pamby GUI?

Where's the tree?

Where's the damn information!

Half the screen is now wasted in white space and fancy headings, jeez
the average mind only needs a single line to get the drift... unless
that mind is a moronic mind!
<please fix bug that won't display a <new para> here>

Do you meant this?

http://www.google.com/

Has it changed? It's good enough that the new Microsoft search engine
copied it directly.

"Microsoft: your innovation, our money."

Google Groups that is.

They don't even (usually) display the YEAR of a post, like we're not
supposed to care?! You have to click SHOW OPTIONS to see it.

Yes, the PHB's have finally taken over and essentially ruined google
groups. Fortunately the uk version still works for the time being:

http://groups.google.co.uk/groups?hl=en&lr=&ie=UTF-8&group=sci.electronics.design

Slashdot has a thread on this. Many complaints.

Ha! Apparently the beta test is over - the old url works again as of noon
EST:

http://groups.google.com/groups?lr=&safe=off&group=sci.electronics.design

This went to the beta version earlier this morning, which is what started
this thread.

Maybe the Slashdot comments had something to do with it, or perhaps a huge
number of complaints in the individual newsgroups. But I don't see anyone at
google sifting through tens of thousands of newsgroups to check for comments.

Just hope they quit "improving" it:)

Use the advanced search page:

http://www.google.com/advanced_search?&num=100&hl=en&lr=&ie=UTF-8

I mean, now, who here is among the hoi polloi?

I bet they check their e-mail & found LOTS this morning. They had my
e-mail by 0730 that started with "Your new "beta" groups is a mess".

I see its back to the old style now - Yeaaaaaaa :)

It's truly awful. I happened to use it yesterday due to something not
turning up in my work email.

Even worse - when I finally tracked down the thread I wanted and pasted
the text into wordpad - all the formatting was lost and it was
unprintable - well.... unusable to read.
