What sort of stuff should I get?

Hi,

I'm starting out in electronics, what sort of resistors, transistors and
capacitors should I get? I've got a small set but it doesn't have much in
it. I'm mainly going to be working with microcontrollers and very small,
basic circuits.

Thanks Michael

best thing is to see what you really need and then order a heap of stuff
through a place that doesn't charge the Earth. Microcontrollers need a
minimal amount of support circuitry, but what they do generaly need is caps
of around 10 - 50 pF for crystals and usually 1 - 10 K resistors for the
reset MCLR line, 100 n F caps for the reset line also. The rest is up to you

Hi Michael:
Buy the following;

Analog: 741 op amp . Look on internet to make an amplifier with gain
of 10
555 timer- Make a 1kHz oscillator- Also on internet
Digital- 7474 flip flop
Misc- one LED any color
1k and 10k resistors
..001uf, .01uf, .1uf ceramic caps.
5 volt power supply
All this stuff is at Radio Shack. You will also need an oscilliscope.
If you want to learn, a scope is manditory. Buy a used one on ebay.
This will be your eyes to see what is happening. Your lost with out it.

Thanks Harold.

Your welcome. I've been doing this for over 30 years and it's all about
interest which I can see you have.
