What is this part?

Hi,

I recently purchased a job lot of electronic components and found one that
I'm not sure about.

It is about 1cm by 6cm in size, has two wires coming from it and has a brown
housing over it. Underneath, it has to strips of metal and in between a
small rectangle with an oval on either side.

Anyone know what it is?

have you taken resistance readings, could it be some sort of fuse holder
or some sort pf plug.
