hello,
i am terribly confused with the word " representation of the solid
model"??
what does it mean??
is it related to the digital representation of the model inside the
computer's memory??
if so..why are so many techniques to store the model??

also i read that there are constructing techniques of solid models
viz.CSG,BREP ..
then how they differ from the representation techniques???

Perhaps you could tell us the context in which you read the term
"representation of the solid model". It sounds like a term that would
apply to how the kernel actually generates the virtual image of the
model.

BREP means "Boundary Representation". It has to do with how the edges
of an object are defined. SolidWorks uses a parasolid kernel, as does
Unigraphics. In a parasolid kernel, complex edges are defined by the
intersections of surfaces, a 2 dimensional function held to within a
tolerance governs the accuracy of the curve. Some kernels define
edges for each surface individually and hold this information
separately from the definitions of other faces.

Most of this doesn't matter to users, only to developers. I have done
some repair of corrupted Unigraphics models where it was important to
know how UG's parasolid kernel defines edges. On one occasion, this
knowledge helped repair a difficult imported model in SolidWorks.

i want to know how the model is represented inside the computer i.e
the digital representation of the solid model..i will be grateful if
someone explain with some sample code..
