What is it with Hakko pricing?

There's this one from RS.... http://tinyurl.com/nmvb7s4

And there's this on ebay.... http://tinyurl.com/pdkd2e7

Possibly the cheapie is a fake but it's a very good one if it is (I've
got one).

Same goes for tips on ebay. Branded 900M tips can be had for around
$1.50 (including postage) whereas local suppliers charge $13 or so (RS
want $22) and they're indistinguishable (I've got both)... not to be
confused with what are very obviously non genuine tips.

RS and Farnell have always had some products with hilarious pricing, the
tip temp unit is pretty bad. Farnell sent me a brochure with distilled
water on special 4L for $15 or so from memory. I get it from woolies for
$3.......

I've bought Hakko tips from the guy below (who I think is in Oz).
Paid between 3 and 6 dollars per tip. They work fine.

I also bought some of what I thought was flux:

<http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/150g-High-quality-Intensity-Soldering-Paste-Solder-Flux-Paste-Grease-For-IC-PCB-/261302866646?pt=AU_B_I_Electrical_Test_Equipment&hash=item3cd6dd52d6>

I don't know what the hell it is but is doesn't work as a flux and needs
detergent and a scrubbing brush to remove it from boards. So if anyone
is thinking of trying it out, don't. ;)

Last time I tried to get distilled water from a supermarket,I could only
get something called demineralized water.

Except they're not genuine Hakko, and aren't claimed to be, although
they're probably a comparable quality aftermarket brand.

*Coolcar Spare Parts (carmates) is a registered local business who're
very good to deal with, based on my past experience with them.
