What type/rating of led diode do I need to hook up as a 'on indicator' for a
240v heating element.
If possible a DickSmith cat number would be helpfull, as they don't have a
electronics savvy sales person where I live. Which isn't helpfull to a
newbie like me.

Thanks Shane.

The LED you need is called a "neon" (which isn't
really an LED at all :)

Try Dick Smith P8116 (red) or P8117 (green).

Be very careful with that 240V - it will bite hard!

I suppose you're the type to enter your "pin number" into an "atm machine"?

;)
