Web addresses showing up in black box on TV

Occasionally, a black box will pop up my TV and HTTP or IP addresses will
start scrolling down it. It only happens on one TV that I'm having to use
the aux video input (tuners shot). I have cable internet and the TV is fed
from a split off of the cable line. Any way to block this? TIA for any
suggestions.

Greg

BTW....I wrote down some of the ip addresses, checked them on-line and
found a couple of them were to partial pages of an on-line
casino...hmmm...not a site I would go to.......

Contact your cable co. Sounds like an interesting bug in their system.

sounds like a way of enticing people to "own up" to using a tapped line,
i'd think that they put the urls there and see which of their customers go
to them, that way they know that someones tapped it.

just a theory :)

This would be a bit of a trick for a conventional TV set. Possibly
yours is equipped for "closed captioning" and is getting falsely
triggered by the digital info on your cable.

The problem I'm having is that all of the Internet stuff is TCP/IP
encoded, which if it got through to a normal TV set would show up only
as random noise. On the other hand, if a closed captioning feature is
present in the set, it could explain your situation.

Perhaps you could check the TV for a "closed captioning" feature, and
turn it off to solve the problem.

Is the address always the same? What are they?
