I'm no computer expert, but I've read somewhere that with a digital PC tuner
card it's possible to view HDTV on a PC - Is this true, and is it
advisable? How much would such a card cost, and how do you go about
connecting an antenna to the PC - Is it through the tuner card? Thanks for
any advice - Regards

Yes you can. You can buy them from most computer stores, or online. Its as
advisable of watching any TV on your PC. If you're happy to sit there to
watch it, or you just want to record it to HD, then its great. About $150+
for the card from memory, but shop around, different brands will be
different prices. And yes, the antenna hooks up to the PCI card directly.

I picked up a Visionplus card a few months ago ($150-$200).
simple install like any other PCI card. Plugged the aerial
into it, loaded the software. check out
http://robdvd.radfiles.net/index.php for information and
other software. I Generally don't worry about the HD
channels (little content), I use the TV out function of my
video card to a 20 year old TV via the VCR.
SD is recorded and watched or burned to DVD for viewing
eleswhere.

Is the aerial for your visionplus card the same as the one for the Analog
TV. Somebody told me that for HDTV you need a different type of aerial. Is
that true. Regards

Not true. The frequencies used are in the same range as for analogue
TV.

Cheers,

Same aerial. digital tv currently uses channel 12 for ABC I
think, that is where people may have problems with older
aerials because they went up to channel 11. If you have
difficulties just purchase a replacement from Tandy, Jaycar,
Dick Smith etc from about $100 - $150. there is no need for
a special $500 ultra digital aerial or whatever.
