OLYMPIA -- An Olympia salon manager has been charged with four counts of
first degree child rape.
Mark J. Ford is accused of forcing a young boy to perform sex acts on
him over 100 times over a six-year period in the early 1990s.
The alleged incidents came to light last March in group therapy sessions
at a correctional facility in northern Idaho when the victim, now 25,
revealed he was sexually abused by a neighbor he identified as Ford,
court documents said.
The first incident occurred when he was 7 years old, the victim told
detectives, adding Ford provided him with hard alcohol and then had him
perform sex acts on Ford, investigators said.
The victim told detectives he was abused over 100 times and it continued
until he turned 13. At one point over the years, Ford's male partner
became involved in the sexual acts, the victim said in court documents.
The victim said he never disclosed the incident to anyone until the
group therapy session, feeling it was necessary to finally let it out in
an effort to heal, detectives said.
Ford, who manages the Salon Fifth Avenue, has been released on $10,000
bond pending his next court appearance on June 22.
