Working on a QV10 chassis of model VS-4002CA, someone rebuilt this
dual SMPS power supply years ago and now this one is blown and other
one has high ESR on replaced caps. This old repair used non-original
electrolytic capacitor values hence need this orignal values for these
four caps. I think one of non-polarized cap was wrong one also.

C911, C914 and C917, C920.

Secondly, On U901, which STR6301 or STR6301A is the original part for
this SMPS board? That IC heated so much that solder joints slowly
distorted & lifted some traces but incredibly fuses didn't blow!

I did have the schematic on paper at our shop but don't have full
listings of components. Oh, Mitsubishi's online schematics login
registion requires a shop's address and phone number, my boss is
relucent to release this info citing would have to pay and become
authorized shop for mitsubishi's which our customer base is too small
to justify our expense. I tried with my home address and no phone
doesn't work.

Much thanks & Cheers,

Wizard

Jason,

C911 = 47uF 100 volt
C914 = 47uF 50 volt
C917 = 47uF 100 volt
C920 = 10uF 100 volt
All 105 degree caps

U900 = STRS6031 (plain, not A)
U901 = STRS5141G

Also replace R918 with a 1k 1/2 watt flameproof resistor.

BTW, tell your boss that the Mitsubishi web site access can be had for
non-authorized repair shops for $99.00 US per year.

It is well worth the cost. Ordering, tech bulletins, inventory inquiries and
pricing are available online. Service manuals and training manuals for newer
sets (including HDTV) are available in electronic format.

Good Luck,
Bill Jr

I thought that It was $99 even if you were a ASC ? Is it alot of work they
require you to do to become an ASC ?

YOWCH...No wonder that guy who last fixed that SMPS didn't take time
to order more or was too lazy and took them from stock; two 250V and
one 47uF non-polarized! 4th cap I forgot but I know now it is
incorrect also.

Good thing, I have a correct IC (STRS6301).

I usually go bit over voltage ratings & capacity on insensitive
circuits but for SMPS I go real close to spec for voltage but not for
capacitance, must be exact unless there's running change documented by
original maker.

Thanks for both parts info & the heads up on the s/m access
subscription.

I'll keep everybody updated on this projo tv rebuild.

Cheers,

Wizard

techforce,

We are not authorized for Mitsubishi and $99.00 per year is what we pay for
access.
I know exactly what you mean about the hoops they want you to jump thru for
that coveted ASC status. Seems like a joke at times.
I prefer the approach Hitachi has taken. Free to servicers, just sign up.

Good Day,
Bill Jr

$99 a year to not have to do warranty claims...maybe it is a good deal.

Boss said Mitsubish doesn't sell TVs in canada.

I only see about 3 to 5 Mitsubishis of any models a year, all of them
are old already ie: over 6 years or more.

I feel for you.
We see about 3 to 5 Mitsubishi's a day. What money makers.
The subscription price is miniscule by comparison.

Good Luck,
