Viewsonic p95+f and jitter

Hi all.

I've had this Viewsonic P95f+b since February. I'm very pleased with the
quality of it (It just takes a bit of tweaking of the convergence and
brightness/contrast to get it just right). However, here's the problem. When
I run at 1024x768 @ 75hz, I start getting jitter every now and again. I've
eliminated possible sources of EMI in the room it's in, but i've noticed
something. I believe my kitchen is on the same circuit as my bedroom (where
my computer is). Now, whenever the tea kettle or some other high power using
device is turned on, I start to get jitter. Sometimes it's less predictable
(I think the furnace may be causing it sometimes). Upping the refresh rate
to 85hz causes it to go away 99.9% of the time.. only on the rare occassion,
when a lot of things are using power in my house, will that jitter a bit. So
to you electronic types out there, does this sound like it could be solved
with a voltage regulator/line conditoner? or should I just keep it at 85hz
refresh and ignore 75hz. I kinda like 75hz because the text seems to be a
bit clearer on this model. Also, is it a possible problem with the monitor?
It's still under warranty, but i'm sorta thinking its not. I took it to the
shop where I bought it, and where I know the technicians quite well. They
left it plugged in for 8 hours in the store and didn't experience any jitter
at 75hz. Any suggestions or possible solutions would be appreciated!

Warn out capacitors in the scan and power supply circuits will do what you
are describing. An ESR test of all the caps will allow determination of all
the bad caps. Then new ones can be installed to replace the faulty ones.
Using the monitor like this will eventually cause the problem to get worse
over time. If the monitor is more than about 5 years old, I would consider a
new one.
