Hi,
Not really an electronic question, but it fits here more than in
carpentry group
Have a Viewsonic A75F 17" flat CRT monitor. Still under warranty.
The plastic coating on the face of the CRT, which they call the
antiglare mask, has deteriorated on the bottom portion of the screen
(about 20%) and it looks like foggy spots.
Viewsonic is trying to wriggle out of the warranty and so far has not
issued an RMA, claiming it's not a "typical failure". That I must
have caused it somehow. Short of legal action (not easy) and not
touching any more Viewsonic products in the future, what can I do?
Has anyone ever tried to remove that mask with anything, say razor
blade? And cleaning with goo-gone afterwards? I did not know these
things had a mask, until this one got cloudy.
