Via cut patterns

Hi,

The new via cut pattern feature in IC 6.1 is great. It doesn't *quite*
hit the mark though. I've got a large via around 30x250 and need to put
a stripe down the middle of the long axis. The patterns provided don't
do what I want and using the wall paper option results in multiple
stripes because the number of vias in X is greater than the via options
in wallpaper.

So I'm stuck with using manual edit and clicking 250*4 vias, which is a
bit annoying.

I did think of making a 30x1 via, setting the cut pattern and then
changing the size, but unfortunately changing the size of the via wipes
out the cut pattern.

Is there any way to make this work? I'm just going to go back to using
multiple vias for the moment. What would be really good was if the wall
paper option could be used without any restrictions on the maximum size
of the repeating pattern - so I could set a wall paper 30x1 and it would
repeat in the y direction.

Cheers,

Roger

Even better would be if it worked more like the stipple editor.

But it's doing exactly that, at least in the "Creat Via" form.
In the "Cut Pattern" section you can define the pattern you want
to repeat.

Say you have a 9x9 array. Now define a 3x3 in the cut pattern
form and set the pattern:

xxo
xxo
xxo

Would result in:

xxoxxoxxo
xxoxxoxxo
xxoxxoxxo
xxoxxoxxo
xxoxxoxxo
xxoxxoxxo
xxoxxoxxo
xxoxxoxxo
xxoxxoxxo

The only problem you would face is, that these subpatterns seem
to be limited to 10x10.

That's the crux of the problem.

And when I say "work like the stipple editor", I mean in terms of
painting the pattern you want whilst holding the mouse button down
rather than having to click for every individual via.
