Ventilation for TV - Question!

This might sound like a silly question to some. I was considering purchasing
a 66 cm wide screen TV. It's about 76 cm wide. The cabinet in which it's
supposed to fit is only 78 cm wide. Leaving a space of only 1 cm on each
side - Is that sufficient. I know that you're supposed to leave some space
around a TV to allow for ventilation. Will I have any problem? Regards

Most of the heat would escape at the top of the back section of the
TV's case and (where all the vent holes are), NOT at the front 10cm or
so of the TV's case.

Also there would likely be air holes on the bottom and possibly the
sides of the back part of the TV set case too. These must not be
obstructed or covered.

If the back of the TV cabinet is closed in - with only that small hole
for the cables to go though, then you may have problems. If there is
a few CM of space available ABOVE the front of the set for airflow,
then cutting some holes in the bottom of the wood cabinet back would
be advisable to allow the cool air to enter. - it can then exit above
the front of the set if space.

If there isn't much clearance at all at the top of the set then I
would cut holes in the top - or near the top - of the TV cabinet back
too.

Even though the TV may work for some time without this ventilation
being done without immediate failure - the heat buildup would likely
reduce the life of internal components noticeably.

(when I say "TV Cabinet" - I mean the cabinet that you are going to
sit the TV in - not the actual case of the set)
