I am looking to buy a VCR that has an S-video socket so that I can transfer
my tapes to DVD via my camcorder. But I am having trouble finding info
online.
Does anyone know of any good VCR's that have a S-Video socket? I don't want
to spend much money.
Thanks
wendy

Does your camera have a composite video in socket? If so, why not just use
that?

You would be up for a couple of hundred dollars for a VCR with S-Video
output (if you can find one). The manufacturers are doing everything to make
them as cheap as possible these days as they move towards running them out,
so it may be a bit hard to find one.

AFAIK your best chance for S-Vid out is a DVD Player / VCR combo. Not great
value in these however. Try your local discount whitegoods and electrical
products retailer - they need the comissions ;)

Seriously, I doubt that using an S-Video out from a VCR is going to be much
better quality than good old composite - especially for home videos (you
wouldn't be copying anything else now would you), but it's your project so
feel free to do it how you want.

** She would need one that goes the other way - composite to S video.

Seems she has a mini DVD camcorder.
