Yes, but you have to mount your PC under the car's hood. Preferably in the
path of the alternator belt for best results.

I think he and Skybuck Flying are a tag-team.

NO. I only need to "transplant" the ignition key system to a computer
chassis?

Maybe I was not clear. I only need the key system to turn on a PC, not
actually taking the full car ignition system.

I think he and Skybuck Flying are a tag-team.

Toroidal energy mentioned in The X-Files? Or the GN Drive in Gundam 00?
I think NASA is still working on it... ;)

Are going to mount the steering column to your desk as well?

I can't tell you anymore, sorry.

Oh, I'm sure!

Some people does buy steering wheel to play car-racing and rally games.

Maybe your suggestion is actually relevant. Shouldn't we just put a PC
inside the ignition and steering system of a car? :)

Why?

Computer just sits there, turn on the ignition and a relay supplies
power to the PC.

Then - you'd probably want to keep it on after the ignition goes off?
for a time?

I didn't write my question carefully. I just need the turn-key mechanism
to replace the power button. :)

Sure, and have Windows do your navigating. Great idea!

Then go to the auto parts store, buy one and install it. There problem solved. DUH!!

Screw that. How about using a Frankenstein-style knife switch! Steampunk,
baby!

Of course nowadays many cars have "suprise!!" a pushbutton startup.

absolutely, pc power button has two contacts that make a circuit when
you press it. find something suitable in ignition switch. the power
buttion is circuit is 5V so voltage won't be a problem.

The turn-key mechanism is actually a safety measure. That way, you would
not accidentally hit the power button.

The Elan-Vital T5-AB ATX Tower chassis I bought many years ago had a
power button that require a twist before a push.

You always only needed to short 2 wires to start a car. :)

Yeah, that's always a hoot where they just rip out the wiring and short
it out (must have arcing though). We used to have a model here where you
could just reach under the dash ans drop a coin across the back of the
ignition switch and away you went.
