USB V2.0 Flash Memory Drive Question

Has anyone played around with the USB V2.0 Flash Memory Drives?
I know the V1.1's are as slow as anything to write to, but I am
wondering if V2.0's do a better job.

I know it's the flash write cycle that takes up the real time, and I
would hate to think that the only difference is the label on the box.

You would probably find that read is faster.

As for write -- even 1.1 is fast for flash. But, on the other hand there are
ways of improving that. For example, use RAM buffer in the flash
drive.Really depends how flash drive is implemented.

I use a USB2 flash drive all the time to transfer files to/from uni. The

computers at uni only have USB1.1 but I have USB2 at home. USB2 is certainly
a lot faster. I did a quick test just then with a 63Mb file. It took 11sec
to copy onto the drive, and somewhere around 1 sec to read off again (too
fast to time properly). On USB1.1 it takes much longer.

Thanks Daniel, that helps a lot.

I just timed 1.1 with a 2 file write for 63Mb and it took 1 min 15 secs.

erase was about .002 nanoseconds
for two file erase cycle, it didn't even blink red. couldn't time it, as
it only clears the directory entry anyway.

I know for multiple files it will take a lot longer again to write.
