US/Canada UK eletrical compatible

Dear All,
I have the offer of Compter Speakers from a relative in Canada. Given
the different Volatges and Frequencies between the two countries. Is it
possible to get a transformer/adpapter to use them in the UK?

There should be no problem. Look at the output voltage and current rating of
the wall-wart used to power the speakers and look for a wall wart with the
same output rating. In fact, the manufacturer may have such a "Power
adapter" or have one designed for dual voltage (input voltage/current will
be specified as, say, 120/240V 50/60Hz in that case).

I'll assume you mean speakers to connect to your computer.

the answer is it depends, if the speakers have a separate low voltage DC
adaptor (or AC adaptor) it's highly likely you'll be able to find a
replacement that'll work for you.

if like mine the mains power goes right into the back of one of the speakers
you're probably out of luck. unless you already have a step-down transformer
you'll end up spending more than the speakers are worth to make use of them.

Used PC speakers are available for about $3 NZ here (just over one Pound
I think), unless those speakers are pretty special or you're getting a
special deal on the freight. they may not be worth transporting.
