Un-grounded surge protector, will they work?

I had the ground stud broken off at the surge protector*s wall outlet
plug because it*s impractical. For 20 years, with many piles of
electronic devices, I never had a single fried device from surges
because surges never happen here in my city block. Will my electronic
devices be protected if the surge protector*s ground terminal is
broken off at the plug?
Thanks.

Surges never happen in your city block???
You must live in a perfectly isolated and protected electrical block????

Not likely. Super luck re 20 years without a fried electrical device.
