UltraSim problem

Our lab has recently installed UltraSim. But when I go through the
tutorial step by step, I found that I could not designate UltraSim as
the simulator in the ADE tool as described in the documents. There is
just no such a choice. Is it an installation problem or a configuration
problem? Thanks!

Happy new year to all!

You need to have Ultrasim installed, and

<usimInstDir>/tools/bin

in your UNIX path.

Note, you should use at least IC5033 USR2, and USIM41 or later (I think). The
integration in ADE changed a lot to make it a cleaner integration in IC5033
USR2 (it can take advantage of existing hspiceD or spectre simInfo in your
design kit, rather than needing specific ultrasim simInfo).

Andrew.

Thank you, Roger and Andrew!

It seems that this is a problem due to the license. Today we got the
new license from Cadence for the new year and everything is OK now.

Hi Tao,

I had this problem as well. I can't remember how I fixed it, but I
*think* that there was some setting in my .cdsenv file that was
preventing UltraSim from being shown. Try moving your .cdsenv file to
say .cdsenv_old and then restarting Cadence. You will not have any of
your saved settings (because .cdsenv does not exist), but if it works
then you can gradually migrate your settings from .cdsenv_old to .cdsenv
until you find the setting which is causing the problem.

Let us know if it works.

Cheers,

Roger
