Ultransonic transducer for distance measurement

I need something to measure distance up to ~5 meters with about
1..2cm accuracy and i've somehow gotten the impression that ultrasonics
is the way to do it.

I have no problem with digital logic and microcontrollers but i am somewhat
handicapped about analog electronics.

I'd like some advice about ultrasonic transducers and driving circuitry that
could be interfaced to a micro. What parts could be used, common problems
to avoid etc... And if someone can point me to some schematics, that would
be awsome.

Since i'm doing it of my spare time as a hobby project, low price and
simplicity are main goals.

Thanks :)
