I have a PHILIPS 100 Hz TV. Suddenly while working normally it's screen
turned to blue with few horizontal flickering lines. Sound is normall. When
turning off there is for a second small shape with vertical lines with
rainbow colours.
It was still under garantee and they said they have to take it because it
has to be specially tested. After 3 days they said it is serious and thay
have to exchange the screen.
It is pretty suspicious and I am affraid they are trying to cheat on
somebody.
I would appreciate if anyone could help me.

MM:
Just how are they "trying to cheat on somebody" if it is under warranty and
they have agreed to take it to be tested and have told you that they have to
exchange the screen ?...... it sounds to me like they are taking care of
the problem.....
Who do you think they are cheating?

Like Daniel Sofie tells you, please let us know why they are
cheating???
Philips has a lot of problems with their picture tubes and what happens
to you happens to thousands of other people. Not funny but it is so...
Be happy that they take care of your problem :-@

This sounds like the picture tube has gone bad. This is common in these
sets.

Why do you say that they are cheating someone? This is a warranty repair
anyways. The manufacture is paying this one.

In any case, if you call the factory authorized service people for repairs,
or any reputable company, they will not cheat the customers. If they do,
they will not stay in business very long. When you must make a living at a
job, you take care to have the customers be satisfied with the work done.

Yeah, not to mention that the sales/warranty rep comes between the customer
& repair shop and that usually involves lots of dumbing down lingo. The rep
is told that there is a problem with the screen itself and that they'll
replace it, the rep then tells the customer that the screen is going to be
replaced, no biggie.
If they are replacing TONS of hardware then that's probably good anyways,
You'll end up with a near new TV rather than just a few componets being
replaced

Do yourself a favor and get it fixed then get rid of it and dont buy
anymore Phillips stuff .

Sounds like a bad CRT (screen) to me, shorted blue gun.

Are they charging you for it?

If not, and they are doing the repair free-of-charge for both labor and parts
under the warranty, then they're not cheating you. They're taking care of you.

And, from the sounds of it, it does sound like a defective picture tube.

Just let them do the work. Complain only if they are trying to charge you or
if you have to take it back a second time for the same problem in an
unacceptably short amount of time. - Reinhart

IMHO Phillips makes reasonable products in their personal care line, like
the shavers, etc. The Plasma sets are nice but over priced, the conventional
consumer electronic products are a shame to wear the Phillips Badge. Seen
way too many with severe problems way too early in their lifetime.
Personally I'd prefer a Samsung or Dawoo product. Cheers Best of the
Holidays.

You must be kidding? :D

We sell Samsung and have selled Daewoo.
We also sell Philips...

Ever placed those three sets side by side and compared the pictures???
For repairs, we have a lot more Samsung and Daewoo with problems.
Philips is very well reliable. Only problems for the moment? Indeed,
picture tubes...most of them made by...L/G :)

Happy X-mass!
