whenever we have the computer on, the tv has lines/snow on some of the
channels. will one of those powerboards with the inbuilt filter
solve this or is there something else that will do it.

There are multiple possibilities.

I would focus on making sure the computer case and all attached cables
are properly assembled and all the shields are grounded. Also move TV
associated wiring away from the computer's wiring (especially monitor
and network cabling). And check that your house wiring's safety ground
is ok.

Beyond such general precautions, you need to identify the source and
path of the interference. Disconnecting things one at a time can
sometimes be revealing. If (as you seem to suspect) the computer's
power supply is implicated, swapping it for one of better quality
might help.

If your TV signal is weak, you may not be able to avoid the problem.
Not all computers are well designed to suppress RFI.

If you have any direct connection between the computer and TV, that
could be the culprit.

Also check any F connectors between the antenna or cable connection
and the TV to make sure they're secure.

Let us know what you find.
