discharge display-tubes (nixies) as listed above. The tubes I am
especially interested in are:

- CD47, GR-414, GR-727, GR-628, GR1620, CD27: giant tubes from Okaya
in Japan
- B-7971, B-8971 or other alphanumeric indicator tubes from Burroughs,
USA
- Z568M, Z5680: huge tubes from RFT, East Germany.

I am also interested in any other display tubes/nixies. If you possess
some, you are more than welcome to offer a price. My email address is

Hey, there is no need to become insulting. I am new to these news-
groups. Obviously I did not know exactly where to post it. And there
is definetely no reason at all to welcome a new member with talk like
that.

I apologise for the multiple posts, but I am not so familiar with
these groups.

Dear Jeff,

You are right, definetely, preperation would have prevented this. I
admit this and apologise for it.

But one thing I have to say. I'm actually sad, that in a newsgroup -
originally designed for help amongs fellow electronic hobbyists - I
have to come across such needless verbal offences. Even if someone
does something wrong, is it each and everyone's right do affront
somebody to be an "a**hole"? That's a little childish, don't you
think? We're all grownups here, hm? Do you really think this is
necessary?

Regards,
Jens

They were not created for 'hobbyist', but for people who work in
electronics. This newsgroup is about test equipment, manuals for test
equipment, and help locating parts or whole pieces of equipment.
Hobbyists are welcome, as long as they play by the rules:

<http://www.faqs.org/ftp/usenet/news.announce.newgroups/sci/sci.electronics-reorg>

This is not a "For sale" newsgroup. Any electronics related sale
messages belong on <news:misc.industry.electronics.marketplace> or
<http://groups.google.com/group/news:misc.industry.electronics.marketplace?hl=en>
for Google users.

The OP was looking for parts, not selling them. I don't have a problem
with that.

This is not the right newsgroup though, and he posted it all over the
place like he was using a splatter gun. All I'm trying to do is show
the right way to find what he wants.

Let's recap:
Tubes wanted, in any quantity and condition[...]
I am also interested in any other display tubes/nixies.

This is obviously a *commercial* effort. In pursuit of that,
the OP is trying to leverage what he sees as *free ads on Usenet*.
This is NOT in the spirit of ANY of the groups to which he posted
this.
http://groups.google.com/groups/search?q=-posted&enc_author=LCHEYBsAAACd93eLdf7KCMqET9FodD-82swEOiOrWt0At_bgOsTgOA&scoring=d&filter=0

There is a group set up *specifically* for commercial traffic.
It is listed in the Charter (to which I linked)
and Mike posted the direct link.
Here it is again:
news:misc.industry.electronics.marketplace
http://groups.google.com/group/news:misc.industry.electronics.marketplace
..
..
I don't have a problem with that.

I do.
If the OP is going to use the *splatter* approach (excellent word,
Mike),
he needs to become aware of the consequences of his actions
and how to make them as benign as possible FOR OTHERS.
(The *marked as read* paradigm was noted in the Wikipedia article
to which I linked.)[1]

If he is going to continue
to spew THE SAME THING to MULTIPLE GROUPS
(if, and only if, those posts are less overtly COMMERCIAL in nature),
he needs to get a proper newsreader
http://www.google.com/search?q=cache:aHUJnR199ugJ:en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_news_clients+*-Gravity+Xnews+Pan+trademark+Disclaimers+last.modified+*-Agent+nonprofit+Thunderbird
(Google limits you 5 cross-posts)
and a proper NNTP provider.
http://www.google.com/search?q=news-servers+GigaNews+TeraNews

My take on this is that, outside of his narrow self-interest (profit),
the OP has no interest in the Usenet community
and (like so many Usenet abusers who are wannabe businessmen),
he doesn't recognize that legitimate vendors
know that advertising is a cost of business--just like rent and
utilities.
..
..
[1] I am one of the MANY who has bitched about (and to) Google
about their lack of responsible stewardship as an NNTP provider.

If they would simply make this
http://www.google.com/search?q=cache:eek:hQq8nqqThwJ:groups.google.com/support/bin/answer.py?answer=46492+don't-use-Usenet-as-an-advertising-medium+Usenet+*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-telemarketer+2006+be.interested+inappropriate-commercial-messages
into a click-thru page that people have to acknowledge
**before** their initial access to posting privileges,
I think things would improve significantly.

OTOH, Google's limp-wristed approach
to obvious spammers who *already* have access
is going to take a **real** commitment
and (as the wiki article hints at) before that improves,
the guy in charge there is going to have to grow a pair.

I'm sorry to destroy your imaginations, but I'm not a businessman
whatsoever. I'm just interested in these tubes and would like to
collect different types. That's why I wrote "in any quiantity or
condition". I'm interested in single tubes (maybe even defective) as
well as in many tubes (lots of 50 or more) to build some clocks.
I apologise if I haven't made this clear enough.

Again, I have to remind you that I'm not a businessman but a private
person...

Dear Jeff,

I think a misunderstanding is the root of this discussion we're having
now. I am no businessman (as stated above) whatsoever, just a private
person trying to collect some tubes.

I don't know how much times I have told you that I did not know these
groups were linked so I obviously didn't want to multipost or "use the
splatter-methode"...

Jens
