Trust spycam broken

Hi group.

This is strange - after a readback my Trust Spyc@m 500F won't take
normal stills any more. Symptoms:- if you try, it beeps twice and the
"0" flashes.

It takes movies fine, and the "Live" function works.

I tried leaving it overnight with the battery pins shorted to see if
it would reset, no effect (looking inside, it has about seven 100uF 6V
capacitors and a single 470uF (presumably for memory sustain)

Anyone?

Do you have access to another one to find out if it is the software or the
camera that is at fault? I have seen these fail in various ways, and it was
not the caps. I used an ESR meter to check the caps, and they passed as
okay. I have also seen software being damaged for some reason, and a
re-installation fixed it.

The fault happens with the camera disconnected from the PC as well.
I've tried a manual reset using a pair of pliers across the battery
pins overnight, no effect.

Its behaving as if the memory is always full (which is what it was
when I plugged it into the PC).
