Troubleshooting remote in Yamaha amp

I'm trying to find out why the remote receiver in my Yamaha AVC-50 doesn't
work. So far, the photodiode seems to work good when tested separately. From
there, I need the schematic. Sams does not list it. Yamaha has been silent to
my requests for service data so far. Does anybody have a schematic for this
unit? It dates to around 1988. Thanks,

What do you mean Yamaha has been silent? You call them, they look it up and
tell you whether it is available or not. Should be available at ~$18 if you
are not an ASC or Dealer. Less if you are. How have you tried to contact
them.

I've contacted them using a customer support/parts information request via
their website. Twice. No response. They charge $18 for a schematic? Gosh,
now I hope they don't contact me. I'd hate to think what they would charge for
unique parts. Could be the AVC-50 is going in the trash!

If the rc is an IR type the next thing to check would be the Xtal.The
quickest way would be to replace it or if you have access to a scope check
to see if it is oscillating. Oh, have you checked for wear on the contact
pads and for any small cracks in the circuit tracks or carbon tracks (if it
has any).
