There are a few people who engage in endless streams of tedious
boasting and insults, with two prime catalysts who don't design
electronics. I'd expect them to bore themselves to death. It's easy to
spot and ignore the hijacked threads.

Public forums attract those types, unfortunately. People who do design
electronics are usually helpful and polite, because they are mostly
interested in things, not in themselves.

Your mesfet model, with threshold set to +0.25 volts, isn't a bad
model for SAV551, at least for my ramp switching apps. I'll tweak it
some more. Fast linear ramps aren't as simple as one might expect.

I have a fast signal that doesn't want to be loaded, but needs to
drive 50 ohms, so I'm playing with a SAV541 as a follower, with an
opamp servoing out the DC offset. The remaining problem is the low
gain from the very-Early voltage.

Dare I bootstrap a phemt follower at 2 GHz? Probably not.

I've run ATF38143s with BFP640FESD cascodes, so I don't see why a
bootstrap wouldn't work fine. The BJT is much hotter than the pHEMT,
and so will need a bead in its base. Those BLMBA050SN1 beads that I
wrote about in the other thread ought to work fine--they stay resistive
way up into the gigahertz. Maybe one of those in parallel with a 50-100
ohm resistor?

It gets somewhat dicier at high collector currents, of course.

Some of the folks that get sucked into these tedious exchanges have good
things to say otherwise, though. Sometimes it's a self-limiting
phenomenon, e.g. in obviously climate/EV/political/audio/atheism
threads, but not usually.
