transistor question (bd139 and bd140 equivalents)

Guest
On this page, http://www.sound.westhost.com/project3a.htm , before he
did the last update, the amplifier used bd140 for q6, and bd139 for
q5, among other changed parts. My question is this, I'm having a
hard time finding the old bd transistors (discontinued?), so I found
the NTE replacements, nte375 for bd139 and nte374 for bd140, but
nte375 and 374 aren't compliments. They are somewhat close, but not
nearly close enough for this application i fear. I'm also having a
hard time finding the current mje and mjl transistors he is now using.
I can get nte parts relatively easily, and would prefer to go this
route. Anyone know if i should just use the nte compliments, (either
nte373 &374 or nte 375 and 398), and if these will work in the
circuit? As far as I can tell the nte 373 adn 374 (compliments) look
like a closer match to the original bd's.
If it helps, the schematic that the bd transistors are used in is the
same to the one shown, except that q4 and q6 are bd140, q5 is bd139,
q7 and q8 are the old toshiba transistors (2sc1302 and 2sa3281), and
R13 and R14 are 0r47.
Thanks for any advice or help, I really appreciate it.

Go to www.mouser.com and search for 512-BD13910S or BD13916S, they're
only 11.5 cents apiece, so there's absolutely no excuse for you not
getting a dozen just to have around. The 10S and 16S is the gain range,
and the S, I believe, indicates it comes in bulk or on tape. If not
there, try www.futurlec.com at http://www.futurlec.com/TransPower.shtml
where they're $.30 or .$35 each (also see this URL for the MJEs).

----------------(from OED Mini-Dictionary)-----------------
PUNCTUATION - Apostrophe
Incorrect uses: (i) the apostrophe must not be used with a plural
where there is no possessive sense, as in ~tea's are served here~;
(ii) there is no such word as ~her's, our's, their's, your's~.

Confusions: it's = it is or it has (not 'belonging to it'); correct
uses are ~it's here~ (= it is here); ~it's gone~ (= it has gone);
but ~the dog wagged its tail~ (no apostrophe).

I bought some batteries, but they weren't included,
so I had to buy them again.
