Transistor ID...

Have a broken inverter on a 2000fp Dell LCD monitor.

One of the transistors is visibly fried on the board.

Can anyone help me ID what type of transistor it is, and where I could
source a replacement?

Markings on it: DT QX

Q12 in the photo linked below.

Would I be better off posting this elsewhere?

Thanks.

Maybe sci.electronics.repair

I know I'd have no clue without a schematic or parts list.

Good Luck!

Here's a *guess* : it's the complement to Q13.

Q12 & Q13 are the same device type. Usually a power fet.
You might also find that the transformer has a ground fault.

Thanks for the suggestions guys, posted at s.e.repair.

I know the inverter can be sent off for repair for about $50, or a
replacement board for about $100, but got the monitor for nothing, so
just seeing if I can get it repaired for next to nothing. Hardly worth
$100, $50 maybe, was good monitor, and I actually prefer 4:3 for
working with, so might be worth trying to get repaired.

And after you replace the transistor and the new one burns up also then
what?
