Generator only connects when Service and Disconnect are off

http://jons-math.bravehost.com/transfer.html

useful when the only disconnect is in the breaker box, major rewiring of
service is avoided, generator is protected, no backfeed into the grid.

It gets funnier and funnier...

Uh, you need to recheck that circuit. Aside from being overly complex,
it won't work. Assuming those circles with the letters are the relay
coils, how does relay A get its power?

And, just for the record, you DO NOT connect across the service
disconnect.

I had to revise my circuit for the parts I had. See revision at,

looks like a good way to destroy some relays and cause sundry
other mayhem.

hint: what happens if the disconnect switch is closed and the power
goes off.

hint: what happens when the power comes back on?

There are so many bugs in his design, that it is amazing that anyone
could have managed to even draw it up. Clearly won't work, can't work,
and the OP has no concept of electrical issues.

Two simple relays, and the rest is trivial. But no, our friend Jon is
determined to approach a simple solution with the most possible
combination of parts and wiring.

maybe something like this?

b d
L2--+---| |----+----| |----+--G1
| | |
| |
N [a] load --N [c] N
| |
| b | d |
L1--+---| |----+----| |----+--G2
| |
| a d |
`--| |--|/|----N |
|
b c |
N--[d]--|/|--| |--'
