Toshiba RPTV Power Problem?

I have problem with a Toshiba 55H70 RPTV. This morning I turned it on
and about a half an hour later it went haywire. It starting turning
itself on and off rapidly. It was cycling on and off and I could'nt
stop it. Finally I got if off and let it sit awhile. It's now been on
awhile and working fine. My wife said this happened before, but this
was the first time I've seen it.
I have the set plugged into a good quality surge protector but I was wondering
if the set could be damaged? We've had alot of thunderstorms in our
area lately and a number of power outages.
It sounded like a protection circuit of some kind was clicking
when it happened. Could it be a power supply problem? Any ideas would
be appreciated. I'm going to get it looked at and would like a heads
up as what might be wrong.

A lot of the newer electronic products are controlled by at least one MPU.
They can occasionally do very strange things. Unplugging the set for a
period of time is equal to a total reboot of a computer system. If there was
an intermittent clutch that the MPU thought was a command then it attempted
to perform what it presumed that command was indicative. Run it for a while,
if it does not reoccur for more than a month then just unplug the set again,
however if it reoccurs more fequently then it would be time to have it
throughly checked out. Could be something as simple as poor solder
connections somewhere within the set to actually an E-Prom or MPU acting up.
Even a change of data to the E-Prom/CPU can cause these rare occasions.
