toshiba convergence

I have a toshiba 55hx70 rear projection tv. Lately there have been
blue lines across the top half of the screen.
I called my local toshiba service center and he wanted $99 to come to
my house and would not apply that to the cost of repair.

The convergence controls in the owner's manual do not address this
problem.
The set is 3 years old and out of warranty.
Is there anything I can do to attempt to correct this problem.

Thanks for any help.

The set needs properly diagnosed and repaired by a qualified technician. It
does cost money to pay a good tech to sit on his behind while he drives
around, plus the added costs of the truck and portable equipment. Well $99
is not an outrageous amount for an in home service call.

This is not an adjustment. There are most likely some failed caps,
and maybe the drive IC's for the convergence. You are best off to
have it properly serviced. You may not have success to do this
yourself, unless you are properly trained, have the service manauls,
and tools.

If you don't know what you are doing, you may end up changing a lot of
parts that were not necessary to change, do more damage, and there may
be some safety issues with this as well.

I have a toshiba 55hx70 rear projection tv.
I am a retired TV tech and have one of these decorating my living room,
too. It is working great which is a good thing because I have been
unable to locate service lit for it.

Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Toshiba 55H70 rear projection TV
Chassis TAC0069

Thank you!

You should contact the Toshiba parts department, or their authorized parts
rep directly. The manual for your set should be about $40 to $60 US.

Thank you but that is one of the dead ends I have been reaching.

I get "Sure! Ummm . . . what was that model again? . . ."

The service manuals for this set are on a CDrom with several other models.
The part number is CDSMPJTV02 and is in stock at www.tritronicsinc.com for
$50.00

Good Luck,
