Toshiba big screen problems

I am having problems with my Toshiba big screen TV and before I call a
repairman I would like to have an idea what the problem is, or if
possible (with your help) fix it myself.

I have a Toshiba model # TP50F60 built in 1996.

Lately the image on the screen starts making popping noises (sort of
like static) It acts as if it was having bad reception, sometimes it's
pretty bad, it mainly does it when the TV is cold. After about an hour
it does it less frequently.
It only does it when receiving a signal either from the cable or from
an outside antenna. I have cable connected to Ant 1 and the roof
antenna to Ant 2.
It doesn't happen when playing a dvd. So I gather that the problem is
related to whatever processes the signal coming from a coaxial cable.
I would greatly appreciate it if you could give an idea on what's
going on.

Emilio,

Sounds like you may have some cracked connections in the tuner module or
associated circuitry.
