Toshiba 32A50 problem

I've just recently been having a weird problem with my Toshiba 32A50
TV. The TV will suddenly make this "snap" or "zap" sound and the
display changes momentarily from TV show to either a blank screen or a
band of colours across the top 1/3 of the picture tube. Then the
screen returns to normal.

This happens consistenly on a daily basis, maybe once or twice per
day.

Does anyone have any ideas what this might be?

Thanks.
Brian

There may be some high voltage arcing. The CRT, or some high voltage part
may be failing. You should have this properly checked before there is a
complete failure of something, thus increasing the cost of repairs.

Is it possible that there is something faulty in the wiring of my
house, instead of it being an issue with the TV itself? I ask this
because there is a light switch in my kitchen (the room beside the TV)
that when flipped will sometimes turn off my satellite receiver for a
second (of if its not turning off completely it must be disrupting the
signal), then it will turn back on.
