My Toshiba 27A51 died today.

It died quietly and suddenly while my family was watching. No picture. Audio
not affected. Remote volume control and channel changer working fine. Won't
display menu or video source indicator (green text) when switching sources.

I'm guessing something in the HV power supply or the main video section is
the culprit. What I really need is a service manual. The Toshiba web site is
useless.

Please help! Thanks in advance.

If you get in touch with the Toshiba parts sales department, or any of
their authorized parts dealers, they can order the service manual for
you. The service shops will not dare to make copies because of copyright
laws.

It may be the high voltage, part of the power supply, or something to do
with the video amp stages that has failed. In most sets however, if the
horiz scan fails, there will not normally be any sound or pix. This is
because the secondary side of the high voltage supply also has low
voltage outputs that are usually used to drive many of the circuits
dealing with the IF, part of the video amp, and the front end.
