Tinned copper wire

I'm having a great deal of trouble obtaining bare tinned single strand
copper wire in 30AWG or around 0.2mm diameter. I need it for perf board
prototyping. 30AWG wire wrap wire works but it wastes time stripping the
insulation off, plus it wastes money too. Cat5 cable core is not tinned
and also too thick.
RS does not have, Elephant 14 does but with their usual exorbitant
postal costs, Ebay vendors who have it are in the USA and also have
expensive postage.
Anyone here who uses the stuff and can tell me any sources?

8 amp household fuse wire for lighting circuits? Get it from
Coles/Bunnings etc.

I never even thought of that and if I had I would have assumed it was
copper alloyed with all sorts of weird elements that compromised
solderability. But I Googled a bit and discovered that household
fusewire is usuallly just tinned Cu. Looked in fusebox and found a card
of 8amp and it does indeed measure 0.2mm. Looked on RS Components again
and found that tinned copper wire is there all right if you put "fuse
wire" in the search box. $20 for 700mtrs which is a lifetime supply.

Stranded wire, like say Jaycar WH3049? Still needs to be stripped, but
a lot less work than stripping individual strands.

700m - sounds like several lifetime's supply.

Still, more than once I have ended up with a lifetime supply of
something.

I once bought 1300 1N4148 diodes for a project. Then I worked out a
better way to do it, and I ended up with hundreds of them left over.
That was over 40 years ago (!), and I still have hundreds of them.

The there are the hundreds of red LEDs that I bought at the fire sale
when the "Silicon Valley" store in St Leonards (anybody remember
that?) closed down.

No, but I remember discovering the hard way that it was a bloody
long walk from St Leonards station to Dick Smith's shop. Youthful
enthusiasm.

of. That will work too until my 700m of fusewire comes in the mail.
On the bright side, you have never had to buy another 1N4148. I bought a
packet of 100 a while back and the supply is getting a little low now.
So useful when you're fiddling with CMOS 4000 series logic or want to
trip a 3 term reg a little higher. An online place I buy fancy LED's
from has a $10 mystery package and I always include one in my order
because they are always worth it. The latest mystery package contained
1000 LED's. Some were 3mm ones in all the colours and the balance were
5mm waterclear ones in all the colours including high brightness white
and blue. For one cent each I felt I got a bargain.

I think some of the first DSE stores were around there or Artarmon,
but before I came to Sydney.

I only knew the one on the Pacific Highway in Gore Hill, not far from
where there still is a Jaycar store. The Silicon Valley store was in
the other direction from St Leonards station, in Chandos street, or
maybe it was Atchison street - can't remember now.

I got a box of Z80 CTC chips by putting my hand at the wrong time at an
aution. Land filln.
