My c. 1997 Time Ironman Triathlon Datalink watch (78401) was recently smashed by standing between my wrist and a falling 40 lb. weight, cracking the frame and its face.Having never, ever used the Datalink feature, I figured T5H301 model would be a suitable replacement. Overall, functionally, it appears to be; however, I much preferred the fit, display and interface of the 78401. Regarding fit, the band of the 78401 had a large range of swing, enabling it to fit the wrist both snugly and comfortably. On the T5H301, the band has little to no range at the hinge, leaving it sit off my wrist more than is desirable and making the overall feel a bit bulky. Regarding the display and interface, the T5H301 reduces the number of buttons by one, overloading the "increment/increase" onto the Start/Split button. This may simply require getting used to; however, it seems less intuitive. In addition, I find the arrangement of the display tougher to read at a glance with its "crammed into a circle" look than on the 78401 with its "organized into a rectangle" look. Again, this may just take some getting used to.In short, this seems to be an able and attractive replacement for the 78401; howeve
r, if you've been using another Ironman for the last 12 years as I have, the new Timex models like the T5H301 may take some getting used to.
Awesome watch, love the look and function but bought the watch because it wasn't as big as the other Timex models. Only problem is that it's really thick that there is a gap between the bottom of the watch and my wrist. Maybe if I had a smaller wrist but it seems excessive. Sorry, other then that, I really do love the watch!
I went down 15 meters with this watch and that's all she wrote-destroyed. Until than, I loved it
I purchased this watch to use in my wood shop. It is great, but I did not realize it was the Mid size. I returned it for the full size. The features a great and the watch is tough. I give it 5 stars since I am tough on watches in my work as a physical therapist and on weekends working in the yard and in my wood shop. I am a runner and really enjoy the stop watch and count down timer. The water resistance feature is nice since i swim a lot.
Being a 200 meter watch, its utility is in the ability to use the stopwatch underwater. The styling of a sports watch is standard - Black and brushed stainless steel. The high visibility orange buttons allows one to see it better underwater.The strap has many notches so that the size is universal. Features include 3 alarm settings, a timer, Event reminder, stopwatch, 3 time zones, and a Golf score.Easy enough to use, the LED is clear. The Indiglo is different in convention from the 1st generation. Only the numbers will illuminate which do take getting used to.Buttons are large and easy to push. The anti-shock feature lets you know it can take punishment over conventional watches. Less bulky in styling than its Casio equivalent, I chose this model.The golf score allows up to 15 strokes per hole - which I hope will not be necessary for any golfer. This is a nice extra feature that is easier than keeping track of the score card and pencil when walking the course and carrying the bag on your back, as I do.All in all, this is a solid watch with a wide range of features. I highly recommend this watch for someone with an active lifestyle - for land and in the water.
