Thermometer

Hi! Anyone out there with simple Temp sensor schematics.
I have been using thermistors and a multimeter, but they are a pain to
calibrate, convert.
What I am after is a simple circuit and sensor hooked up to a DMM or LCD
display. Using IC's like the LM335Z or similar, to use as a thermometer.
Also have a K type Thermocoulple, and need exact instructions for using it
as a thermometer.
I am a learner so need easy to follow instructions.

Well, I was reading the PIC technotes, and there is on on using the
watchdog
timer frequency as a temperature sensing device! They use an onchip
oscillator, and its freq varies with temp.

I'm used to PICs being used in strange circuits, but as a thermometer?
