Thermocouple (or wire) source

Hi,
I have just finished building a pizza oven in the backyard and would
like to monitor the temperature of the floor bricks and the internal air.
Does anyone know of a good (not too dear :) source of thermocouples or Ktype
wire here in OZ.
I have a mickymouse (small) one that came with my multimeter but I need
something on longer leads (~300mm) and able to take a few hundred degrees
inside the oven.
Oven pic here if interested.

** You may be better off with a bi-metal dial thermometer - like a
normal oven thermometer or a meat thermometer with a long spike.

Using electronics where it is not needed is a wank.

Jaycar have several K type thermocouples (-50C to +250C) for about $10,
but I don't know the length. They also have 2 non-contact thermometers with
laser sightings for $100, and $160, if you really want to go the whole hog.

RS Components also have a range of K type thermocouples in various
configurations, ranging in price from about $11 to above $100. Some
have lengths of about 2m. You can do a search at

I needed a long thermocouple for a temperature controller a while ago. After
much hunting about I ended up buying a 25m roll of T-type from Farnell. I
can't remember the price exacty, but it wasn't too bad for the length
(~$50?).

Nice oven by the way.

Russ.
