antibody testing would allow data that would give the most clarity as

There\'s no current use for that data, though: it takes so few persons to
start a new
cluster, that even an accurate antibody test would not allow opening up
at borders
(the WHO has specifically addressed this) or change the criteria for
opening a lockdown area.

That\'s the reason for disinterest: it\'s only of academic interest this week.
Maybe, if it can speed human testing of vaccines, it has a niche in
clinical trials.

Of course there is an important conclusion to be drawn from antibody
testing. It can settle the nagging question whether and for how long
people get immune, if combined with data of new cases.
If say 100,000 people are tested positive for antibodies and none of them
gets corona in two months, that sets a sweet lower limit for immunity.
If on the other hand the people tested positive are infected at a rate
not significantly different from those tested negative we can say
goodbye to all herd community idea\'s.
