A trade Email repair group told us, if you have a picture tube with a poor
brightness. if you run the heaters (TV not going of course) on 12 Volts for
15 Minutes then down to 9 Volts for 5 Minutes it would boil the rubbish off
the cathode,
The first time I tried this it worked great (with a Philips TV), and got a
real good improvement in picture brightness, since then I have tried it
again a few times, just the other day with a Sony TV it turned out so poor,
it makes me think I should not try it again. has anybody else tried that?
I would not suggest you try it at home with someone else's TV, you might get
a whack round the ears and sent to bed without any meals. It's funny how
it worked great the first time and failed about twice since then.
