The government should pay people for driving electric cars, not for buying them...

The U.S. will do both, once the government gets any sense. Since they\'re mainly concerned with paying for road maintenance right now, they penalize EV owners with high taxes of one form or another.

I think they have the battery backward in the picture. The indented band is usually at the positive side.

Sounds like they want to reward people for driving a lot.

This must be an engineering group. I bet you are fun at parties!

Please go look at the picture. I guess they don\'t understand how battery is constructed. The indented band is for supporting the insulated ring holding the cathode, which is the positive end, not the negative. OTOH, they could have done it on purpose.

Alkaline batteries are constructed the other way round - the negative zinc rod is in the middle, the positive manganese dioxide/carbon cathode is on the outside.

OK.

Perhaps I\'ll look into recharging (or exploding) Alkaline Batteries.

Perhaps it\'s an alkaline cell, they have the shell positive.

It seems that way at first. But what they\'re talking about is people who already drive a lot, usually for business or employment. Many people have long commutes, especially the construction trades, and salespeople and reps with unreasonably large regions. They should be rewarded for exchanging ICE powered miles with EV powered miles.

They\'ve got so much solder blobbed on there it\'s hard to tell.
