And yes that is photoshop trickery. Scotty wouldn't stand there when I
switched it on for some reason.

Looks great, got any details on it?

I am looking to get a 15KVa power supply and would be interested in where
you got one from.
Mine is for a CO2 laser though, but a Tesla coil would be nice too

Tesla coil details:

Primary:
240V 4.4A to 11kV 80mA NST (neon sign transformer)
20nF 27kV multi mini capacitor (18 x 18 series strings of 22nF 1500V
polyfilm caps)
~7 turns of 0.25" soft copper tubing (30° conical spiral)
Single air blast (for cooling and quenching) sparkgap set to about 6mm

Secondary:
~800 turns of 20AWG enameled Cu wire on 6" diameter resin impregnated
paper tube (1:4.5 aspect ratio)
13" x 5" toroidal top load (~16pF) made from nickel plated truck
exhaust bend donut

I'll put some photos up on the web if it ever stops raining, it's been
going for 4 days now!

As for NST suppliers:

The NST I used has been kicking around the workshop for years, but we
did recently purchase a few smaller 6kV 24mA NSTs from a place called
"Claude Neon", a local neon sign manufacturer.

Check the Yellow pages for a neon sign shop near you.

You may even be able to pick up a second hand one.

Nice unit.
What frequency does it run at?
Did or have you trimmed your secondary coil length to the wavelength of its
Fr?

Opps, sorry double posting.
