Would anyone happen to know if the Telstra TBox displays the program
guide if you you're not using a BigPond internet connection? since I
have bigpond I can't check. thanks,

Yes, I have one which I use without an internet connection, purely as a DVR, it doesn't display the program guide.

From the T-Box manual - troubleshooting.

"The program guide information is missing:

1.Make sure your T-Box is connected to BigPond internet.

2. Make sure you’ve registered your T-Box.

3. If you’ve just restarted your T-Box, you might need to wait a few
minutes while the program information loads.

4. Detailed information may not be available for some programs or
channels.

You can also reset the program guide by selecting Settings, T-Box
Information and then Re-set options. Select the Reset Program Guide
option. This will take a few minutes."

My understanding has always been if I want full T-Box functions
(including the Program Guide) I have to be connected via the Bigpond
internet.

Thanks for that! :) I suspected it was the case. I have three TBoxs, and
I'm currently with BP, so if I change ISP's, which I was looking at
doing when I have to go to NBN, it means I will lose that functionality
with them, which I don't really want to happen, so I will either have to
stay with BP, or accept losing the program guides, etc.,. :(
