could someone please advise of where i can get information

regarding decoding the crt numbering system

so i can swap picture tubes without resorting

to trial and error.(usually about 95% error)

There isn't much in the way of information on that, I've looked. I've had
pretty good luck just by looking at the tubes though, but I mostly look for
generic 19" tubes for old arcade game monitors.
 
Sencore's CRT setup book for their CR7000 is pretty useful.

There isn't much in the way of information on that, I've looked. I've had
