Telephone hook switch noise

I have a Chinese made telephone with a hook switch that is generating a ton
of noise. Disassembly revealed a DPDT switch made by having the top of U
shaped phosphor bronze contact springs sliding along the sides of tin/silver
coated brass contact tabs.

I have given it thorough clean and need to know what, if any, lubricant
should be used on the contacts before I reassemble it.

Help appreciated, John.

Assuming now clean, phosphor bronze should not need lubricating. Perhaps
neachanically add, by bending or something, some extra spring action
(something less than handset weight of course)

I did bend some extra tension into the spring action. It is now assembled

dry and so far so good.

You can use a specialised contact-cleaner, but a *tiny* squirt of WD-40
should work fine.
