Tektronix Wavestar TekXL problems

am trying to use the Tektronix Wavestar 2.7 program using RS232
and Tek TDS460A/THS720 scopes with TekXL Excel
macro extensions on Win2k/98/XP and am having lots of problems,
wonder if anyone can help me out:

1. TekXL installed on Win98 with Excel 2000: the Wavestar app runs
ok, can see the TekXL menu in Excel, but can never connect to
scope (using rs232), even though Wavestar connects ok.

I would REALLY like to get this to work, as it seems to be exactly
what I need, but so far, after hours of reinstalling on different
pc's etc, no luck.

2. Wavestar TekVISA dll install is apparently not compatible with any
National Instruments stuff, eg NIMAX. It appears NI cannot coexist
with TekVISA?

3. Wavestar 2.3 ran ok on WinXP, albeit with usual level of bugs,
consistent with National Instruments usual software bug density,
but now after I installed the update to Wavestar 2.7 it no
longer runs on XP, though 2.7 runs ok on Win98

4. Have never been able to get timed datalogging to work in Wavestar,
want to log an onscreen meas to datalog table at 1Hz interval,
Wavestar data table fills up with 50 readings then stops.
Even though properties page setup to log for 1 hour duration.

Overall, after 10(+?) years or so of being on the market, I would have
hoped Wavestar would now be as polished a product as the Tek scopes
themselves, but it still seems to be an afterthought ...

I have had similar issues. In my experience, TekVisa absolutely refuses to
run on anything except a genuine Intel processor. I have not been able to
make it work on ANY AMD product. Works fine on rotten old Pentium IIs, even
slow ones.

Forgot to mention, TekVisa will not run on WinXP Home. Must be XP Pro.

Thanks in advance.
